Cardi Drops “Like What (Freestyle); Hits the Mall for a New Bag During Coach Lyric Controversy

Cardi B Returns With "Like What (Freestyle)"

On March 1, Cardi B popped out with her new “Like What (Freestyle).” It’s her first drop of 2024 and samples Missy Elliott’s “She’s A B*tch.”

There was on line that caught fans’ attention, though: Like a Coach bag, baby, this ain't what you want (Nah),” Cardi raps. Some people might have taken it as a diss, but apparently it was a reference to Cam’ron’s 2011 “Hey Mumma.”

In her explanation, Cardi stated how Cam’ron’s lyrics influenced her view on Coach at the time. “When I was doing this song, that’s what I was thinking about. It’s like, ‘B*tch, do you want that or do you want this? You want a Chanel, or you want this bag?’ Now everybody’s jumping me,” she explained and professed she did not want to offend anyone.

“Come with me to buy a Coach bag,” Cardi B captioned a recent TikTok video showing her go to the mall to buy a new bag.

“Like What (Freestyle)” is Cardi’s first solo song in years. It follows up the Megan Thee Stallion collaboration, “Bongos.”
