The Mad Game Release Summer Hit ‘Funny’

POP

'Funny' by The Mad Game is one song that has been in my head for a long time, and I cannot shake it off. It isn't a bad thing, either, because the track keeps bringing me in for another fix.

The record is the duo's first release to land on our desk, which is surprising given the group's talent. They have an indenting sound and a paradoxical musical quality that is captivating.

So, what makes this paradoxical? The music is upbeat, and the beat entices you from the first note. The voices also leap through the speakers with zeal, with various musical sounds blending to produce a fantastic sonic environment. However, a closer examination of the lyrics reveals a different story. Yes, there is a funny syntax on display, but the track's meaning is more nuanced than the ears initially detect.

Lyrically, the duo discusses things not looking as they genuinely are, either positively or negatively. Furthermore, what is anything? In addition, are good things truly that good? And what about the other way around? It is a philosophical question that is difficult to answer, and the answer, while not revealed inside the track, receives a great deal of consideration time.

But this one is right up there with the greatest in terms of new tracks. It's a quirky summer song, and it provides the duo with a distinct selling appeal. They aren't scared to forge their own path, and it has paid off nicely for them.
